The Internet coinage to criticize the mainstream media, the
freedom of manipulating the press, was introduced at the Diet. The former
governor of Ehime Prefecture, Moriyuki Kado, who coordinated the plan of
establishing the veterinary department at universities in Imabari Ehime, used
the word. He pointed out the fact that the mainstream media did not report the
adjournment inspection held on Jul 10th 2017, and criticized them that
exploited the freedom of manipulating the press, the manipulation of the false
image.
The mainstream media manipulated by ignoring his comment
again.

“They treated me as if I were a ghost.”
Shigeharu Aoyama’s question at the Upper House Budget
Committee on Jul 25th ignited this whole episode. Aoyama keenly criticized on
the mainstream media ignoring Kado’s correspondence held at the adjournment
inspection on Jul 10th, and said, “Even if Kado clearly explained the whole
incident in a chronicle order as the unsworn witness, the mainstream media
mercilessly ignored him. In addition, they treated me as if I were a ghost,
although I felt sorry for all the voters. Let’s ignore me. But, the main topic
in this time is that the mainstream media ignored Mr. Kado even if he talked
the important information as the significant witness.”
And then he asked Kado, “Tell me about your impression about
the contemporarily social environment including the mainstream media‘s treatment to you.”
“All the politicians and bureaucrats who blamed on the
mainstream media have always been defeated by it as long as I have worked in
Kasumigaseki for 30 years. So I have nothing to say to them.“ He answered. Kado
answered as if he refrained his personal opinion.
“There is no freedom of the press.”
Moreover, he talked his personal experience that he heard
from his friend, “The Internet is flooded with the mainstream media’s freedom
of manipulation the press,” after coming back from his trip to Italy for
attendance at the adjournment inspection on Jul 10th. His friend showed how the
mainstream media ignored Kado’s comment. And then, he mentioned his opinion,
“Because I used to be a bureaucrat, I had the same
experience many times. But, I suggest that the mainstream media should humbly
accept the fact that it has been taking the advantages of its privilege to
manipulate the press and the impression of image.”

The mainstream media manipulated his comment of the freedom
of manipulating the press by ignoring him. Only Mainishi Newspaper reported it
in its morning paper.
Although Sankei Newspaper is pro-Abe administration, it
merely updated his opinion instead of reporting in its newspaper. Yomiushi
Newspaper, another pro-Abe administration newspaper company, did not write
anything about it. This indicates that they seems to have their political stance.
