Thirty years-old east grand sumo champion from Tagonoura
stable, Kisenosato, pulled out of 11th day of the Summer Tournament held at Tokyo
Ryogoku Kokugikan on 24th May. He failed recovering his upper left arm after
Spring Tournament in March, and was continuously defeated against the second
champion, Kotoshogiku at the tenth day bout which dropped his records to 6-4 in
the whole tournament. He has had to give up his third straight title.
This is his second withdrawal since the bout as an Ozeki on
the last day of the 2014 New Year tournament. He lost Tamawashi by default at
eleventh bout. He was the second champion who withdrew the tournament following
Kakuryu.
Kisenosato who suffered injury at the left arm won the
dramatic upset victory at thirteenth day bout of last spring tournament as a
new champion. He cancelled the spring tour in April, and forced himself to
participate in the summer tournament with the injury. Although he rose 6-2 at
the first part of the tournament, he avoided using the left arm from the ninth
day bout.
